2022 Review and looking ahead for 2023!

Today I tweeted a short thread about Crypto in 2022 and what to expect in 2023. Twitter is a headache for reading threads and I wanted to dive in a little further, so posting my thoughts here. Predictions are always brave and I've kept mine generic with no mention of prices!

As we wrap up the year, it's time to look back on what has been a pretty rough ride for the crypto world. From Bitcoin's 65% drop since the start of the year to the collapse of various exchanges and projects, it's been a tough year. But it hasn't all been bad news.

There have been some bright spots in the crypto world, too. The successful launch of Ethereum 2.0 and the continued growth of stablecoins and DeFi are definitely highlights. We've also seen an increase in self-custody and a lot of frauds and Ponzi schemes exposed and stripped from the industry.

So what can we expect from crypto in 2023? Well, I believe, it looks like we might see some green shoots in the second half of the year. As good projects continue to develop in the bear market, we could see new growth areas emerge. New narratives, possibly involving AI, could drive the next cycle and bring real utility and adoption to the industry.

We're also hoping to see some clarity from the SEC following the Ripple/XRP lawsuit, as well as more rules and regulations, particularly in the realm of consumer protection. It's likely that centralized exchanges (CEXs) will continue to struggle due to a lack of consumer confidence, leading to further growth of decentralized exchanges (DEXs).

I also believe that privacy coins will continue to outperform the market compared to other altcoins.

All in all, it looks like 2023 could be an exciting year for crypto. Here's to more positive developments and growth in the industry for 2023!

Let me know your thoughts.
