Litecoin is one of the oldest cryptocurrencies launched back in 2011. For a long time flipping between the 2nd and 3rd highest market cap. It was created from forking Bitcoin's source code and modified to use a slightly different hashing algorithm & coin tokenomics. Created by Charlie Lee, who came under fire after selling all of his LTC right at the of the 2017 bull run. Lee explained this was to reduce his conflict of interest in a Reddit post.
